I inherited my first 4 gardening books from my Dad. Since then my library has expanded to over 30 books plus a 15 volume hard cover set I obtained through a gardening club. This does not include magazines and my consistant favorite is the Alberta Gardener. Most of the books shown on these pages are excellent resource material. They are also enjoyable to browse through reading this bit or that and looking at all the beautiful pictures!
All of the books detailed on these pages are available to purchase at most book stores, but they can also be found at the Public Library.

My First Gardening Books
Gardening Under the Arch
Millarville Horticultural Club
ISBN 0-88925-406-0
This is a very good book, one of the first to focus specifically on Chinook zone Prairie Gardening. I have one of the earlier versions, but the Millarville Horticultural Club has recently revised, updated and re-issued a full color version of this classic, very practical and helpful book.

Perennials for the Prairies
Edgar W Toop and Sara Williams
University of Alberta, Faculty of Extension, 1991
ISBN 1-55091-005-1
A good reference book which includes picture, description, requirements, potential use and propagation for each plant.

The Harrowsmith Perennial Garden
Patrick Lima
ISBN 0-920656-74-9
This book was a major factor in my growing interest in plants and gardening. Gorgeous pictures with a readable format and laid out by plant season from Spring to Fall.
