Trees and shrubs are the definitely the stars of the fall season. Due to the large scale of the plants, the whole landscape shines with yellows, golds, and splashes of orange and red.
The predominant fall color of the trees in our area is yellow. One notable exception is the American Mountain Ash (Sorbus americana) which has glorious orange and red foliage in the fall. There are also a number of hardy shrubs with orange and red fall color.
For our purposes "Fall Color" refers to a deciduous tree or shrub which significantly changes color in the fall.
